The GPs working from The Village GP Black Rock operate on a time based private billing schedule. Patients only pay for the time spent with the GP. If you have booked a long appointment but only spend a short time with the GP as they are very familiar with your care, you will only pay for a short appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

You don’t need a referral letter to attend The Village GP Black Rock. Appointments can be easily booked online at thevillagegpblackrock.com, or by contacting our friendly receptionists by phone on (03) 8202 3000.

Just email us at reception@thevillagegpblackrock.com, but please inform us if it’s something urgent. Always call 000 in an emergency.

Your current doctor may refer you to another practitioner or specialist in order to help support and manage your condition, and referrals can be discussed during your consultation with us.

Please call 000 or go to your nearest hospital.

We accept payment by Credit and Debit cards. We don’t accept cash or keep it on the premises.

Some of the services available at The Village GP Black Rock may be covered by your private health fund. To find out if you are eligible for a rebate, please contact your private health fund provider.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify the practice at least 3 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 3 hours’ notice may incur a late cancellation fee. 

You’ll be sent a confirmation when you book, and a reminder both five days and 24 hours before your appointment.

Regular patients can request most standard repeat or replacement prescriptions online from their usual doctor.

To use this service:

  • You must be an existing patient and have attended the clinic in person within the past 12 months.
  • The medication must have been previously prescribed by your regular doctor.
  • Requests are completed only by your regular doctor. If your doctor is on leave, you will need to book an appointment with another GP.

Online requests are not available for:

  • Schedule 8 medications, including Vyvanse, Ritalin, Concerta, methylphenidate and dexamphetamine
  • Drugs of dependence, including benzodiazepines, codeine, tramadol, pregabalin and zopiclone
  • Weight-loss medications, including semaglutide injections and phentermine

These medications require a consultation with your regular GP.

Fees & turnaround

  • Standard request: $30 | completed within 2–4 days
  • Urgent request: $40 | completed the same day if your doctor is consulting that day
  • Prescription request fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate

You will be given any test results by your regular doctor, unless agreed otherwise.

What are the pathology collection hours?

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 2:00pm (closed 12:00pm – 12:30pm for lunch)
  • Saturday: 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Closed Sundays and Public Holidays

Walk-ins welcome — no appointment required.

  • Cardiopulmonary testing (24hr Holter Monitoring, 24hr Ambulatory Blood Pressure & Electrocardiogram (ECG)

Do I need a referral?

Yes, a valid pathology referral is required. All referral forms are accepted, regardless of provider.

There are two main ways to contact The Village GP Black Rock, via phone or email. If you are experiencing an emergency please contact ‘000’ immediately.

If you are contacting us about creating, changing or cancelling an appointment, please note that you cannot book or alter appointments via email. For your convenience you can make appointments via the website or on the HotDoc app at any time, or by phoning the clinic. If you need to alter an appointment please call our receptionists on (03)8202 3000.

Driving to the clinic

We are located at 29 Bluff Road. There is a 2 hour council car park adjacent to the practice, just 3 doors up the street.

Public Transport

The closest bus stop is at Karakatta St/Bluff Road and is serviced by the 600-922-923 Southland to St. Kilda via Sandringham line, or the 825 Moorabbin to Southland via Black Rock and Mentone Line.

If you or a family member require an interpreter for your appointment, please inform our reception team at least 24 hours in advance, where possible.

The Village GP Black Rock has an afterhours agreement with 13SICK (13 74 25) This service provides bulk-billed, medical consultations in the home weekdays from 6:00pm, Saturdays from 12 noon, as well as Sundays and Public Holidays.
