Comprehensive Women’s Health Services in Black Rock and Surrounding Areas

womens health blackrockYour health is as unique as you are, and at The Village GP, we believe in a personalised approach to women’s healthcare. From routine check-ups to more specialised treatments, our goal is to help you stay healthy and empowered throughout your life.

We recommend regular check-ups at least every two years to catch any potential health issues early. Our women’s health services include:

  • Cervical screening tests (formerly Pap smears)
  • Breast examinations
  • Menopause and perimenopause management
  • Contraceptive advice and family planning
  • Prenatal care and support

Whether you’re just beginning your journey into adulthood or navigating the challenges of midlife, we’re here to guide and support you every step of the way.

This dedication is due in no small part to the fact that like you, our staff including The Village Blackrock GP owner, Dr. Maureen Burke are and have been Dr’s patients as well. As a result, our Physicians here all have the same mindset of wanting to provide their patients with the same level of care, attentiveness and compassion that they would want to receive as patients themselves.

Some of our staff members and doctors have a great deal of experience working with patients who are experiencing menopause and perimenopause management, allowing us to serve you better. One key way in which we attempt to provide the best care possible is with our Menopause Program.

Menopause Management – Compassionate Care for Women in Black Rock, Beaumaris, Sandringham, and Cheltenham

Menopause is a major milestone in a woman’s life, but it can also bring new health challenges. At The Village GP, we understand how overwhelming this phase can be, and that’s why we’ve developed a Menopause Program to support women. Our menopause program is designed to provide you with expert care and practical solutions for managing your symptoms. Here’s how it works:
  • Pre-visit questionnaire: To tailor your care, we send you four simple questionnaires to fill out before your first appointment. These help us understand your symptoms, health history, and concerns.
  • First appointment: You’ll meet with our experienced nurse, followed by a detailed consultation with your GP. During this time, we’ll discuss any symptoms you’re experiencing and review your health history. If needed, we can perform a Cervical Screening Test during this visit.
  • Second appointment: About two weeks later, you’ll come back for a follow-up to discuss your results and treatment options, including Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) if recommended.
But it doesn’t end there. If we discover any additional health issues, such as insomnia, depression, or heart disease, are discovered, we will book a third appointment with you. During your third appointment, your Physician will then discuss such care options as prescribing a Mental Health Care Plan or having you speak with a cardiologist. The important thing to remember here is that everything you are going through during this phase of your life is totally normal. After all, you are entering a new phase of life, and it’s totally natural to feel overwhelmed. Even though you may feel totally alone at times, we assure you that you aren’t. As patients of The Village Blackrock GP, we are with you for the long haul. We’ll be by your side and provide a helping hand for as long as you allow us to be.
